2006年，主唱刘舸带着对根源摇滚和The Cramps乐队的挚爱组建了The Molds。 在2007-2009年，The Molds乐队的早期阵容活跃在，以D22为主的北京音乐场景下。并于2008年发表首张Demo EP 《A Cowboy Never Saw A Horse》，乐队以Jesus and Mary Chain一般的吉他噪音，包裹着源自于60年代Buddy Holly一般的动人旋律，乐队成为了一个公开的秘密。 经过沉淀后，The Molds乐队以全新阵容亮相（主唱吉他：刘舸 / 吉他：乔西 / 贝斯：刘舫 / 鼓手：李子超），并于2018年9月发表首张专辑《Born Astride The Grave》。2020年，乐队发表EP专辑《L'ULTIMO SALOON DEL WEST》，概念为4首虚构的西部电影原声的歌曲。 The Molds在音乐圈长期处于隐士状态，不入主流，也不入非主流，命运使然经常会随时停摆。在历经2年的隔海相望后，乐队再次秘密集会，带着全新的私酿出发，午夜列车上的镖客沉默不语。一切众妙，现场一触即发。
